(You may need to install a program such as 7-Zip to extract files, if you don’t already have one.) Critical Fix Mods All of your downloaded files just get put in there, after they are unzipped as needed. Within that folder, you can create sub-folders to organize all of your mods and any Custom Content (CC) that you want in your game. To install mods, all you need to do is go to your Documents folder, find your Sims 2 folder (usually under EA Games unless you customized your installation), and create a folder called “Downloads”.
Obviously, mods to prevent corruption are the most important, followed by fixes for game-breaking bugs, and so on. I’ve compiled a list of mods that work with The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection, and organized them based on how essential they are for your game. Unfortunately just getting The Sims 2 game installed won’t be enough to keep it running smoothly - we are talking about a game that came out over 15 years ago now!
